If you have a RAMQ card, you are exempt from registering for French health insurance, as your Quebec insurance covers you while in France.

 
 

European 

If you come from an EU country and are covered by your national health insurance, your health insurance in France will be provided by your country of origin via the European Health Insurance Card, which you must apply for before arriving in France. 

 
 

non-European 

If you come from a non-European country, you must register for French social security when you arrive in France via the Ameli website dedicated to international students in order to obtain free coverage.

Complementary Health Insurance 

Once you have finalized your health insurance registration and obtained your French heath card (carte vitale), you can potentially benefit from complementary health insurance, which covers part of your medical expenses.

Depending on your financial resources, complementary health insurance (complémentaire santé solidaire) may be granted free of charge.
